The Caribbean region, located 160 km from San José, makes up the Limón province. In Limón you will find the main commercial seaport of Costa Rica. To get there you must take the Braulio Carrillo highway, which will take you through banana plantations, ornamental plant farms, pejibaye farms and others.
This marvelous region lies between the San Juan River (to the north of the country) and the Sixaola River (to the south) and from the northern plains to the Talamanca Mountain Range (to the west).

Puerto Viejo is one of the places surfers choose to conquer Salsa Brava, which is one of the most famous waves in the world (it can reach up to 13 meters high). It is also an ideal place to enjoy the great variety of bars, international restaurants and stores. Other surfing beaches are Bonita Beach, Westfalia and Isla Uvita.
The climate of this hot region has temperatures that range from 35°C during the day to 23°C at night. Rainfall is frequent year round, with drier periods during the months of April and November.
The exuberant humid tropical forest shows an immense number of plant and animal species. You will encounter beautiful paths adorned with lianas, tall plants, toucans, wild peacock, spider monkeys, zarigüeya and tapirs.
